News: We are an active UU community. You will find links to some of our activities and announcements here.
-
- May 9 and 10: OCUUF’s Diversity Social Justice Committee will collaborate with other groups in the community to consider ways FDL can be more inclusive and welcoming to GLBTs. Breaking Silence: Beginning a Conversation with/ about GLBTs in Fond du Lac will be held at Covenant United Methodist Church. We’ve had a wonderful initial response to this event, being co-sponsored by FDL High School Gay Straight Alliance, Covenant United Methodist Church, Congregation of St. Agnes, Marian College Social Justice Committee, and Marian College Campus Ministry. This event will be the educational component for our Fellowship’s designation as a Welcoming Congregation. Please mark your calendars now (Friday evening, 7- 9:30 p.m. and Saturday, 9 a.m. -3 p.m.) and plan to participate.
- Coffee Hour Volunteers are needed forMarch and April. Please sign up on sheet on Fellowship entry table.
- Child care during service is provided for young children by Angie Leu in the small room at the end of the fellowship hall.
- Sunday service announcements are due to Madonna Bowman by Thursday noon.
- See bulletin board for information about a UU Family Camp held at Williams Bay, WI July 13-19.
Around the Commmunity:
- April 4, 5: Global Warming Symposium. At UW-FDL. See poster on bulletin board for details.
- April 11-12: Jesus Seminar at Pilgrim UCC, "Jesus in the First and Twenty-First Centuries," w ith presentations by two Jesus Seminar scholars. Marcus Borg is perhaps the best known name associated with the Jesus Seminar and this group offers some of the best scholarship available on the life and teaching of Jesus. Registration is $60 for all three sessions. May register for individual presentations. Complete information is posted. Online registration is available at www.westarinstitute.org. (Note: Dave and I learned from Rev. David Owen-O’Quill (who traveled from Chicago to lead our Feb.17 service that was cancelled due to ice) that the Jesus Seminar includes one Unitarian Universalist and that he played a pivotal role in helping the seminar participants shape their understanding of Jesus. Thus, I think that we as UU’s will find these presentations very helpful to our understanding of the life and teachings of Jesus. – Madonna)
- April 8: Zen presentation by Abbott of Hollow Bones Zen Order, Junpo Denis Kelly, at Oshkosh Zen Center, First Congregational Church, 137 Algoma St. Oshkosh, 6:30- 8:30 p.m.
